Framework, safety and sportsmanship

Rules

The rules provide a common framework for Rope'n Rescue Belgium, ensuring safety, fairness and smooth workshops while preserving the event's family spirit.

A simple and clear framework

The events are designed to be realistic: nothing is installed in advance by the teams, and situations require analysis, autonomy and equipment mastery. The rules below provide a clear basis for all participants.

Main rules

01

Participation

Each team participates with respect, mutual support and curiosity. Participants must be physically and technically able to perform rope manoeuvres.

  • Respect schedules, briefings and organisation instructions.
  • Mandatory presence at safety briefings.
  • Correct behaviour towards other teams, victims, volunteers and supervisors.
02

Safety

Safety remains the priority at all times. A workshop may be stopped or adapted if a situation becomes dangerous or conflicts with instructions.

  • Check equipment before use.
  • Wear PPE adapted to the situation.
  • Any manoeuvre deemed dangerous by supervisors must be stopped.
03

Matériel

Teams must have the equipment needed to operate autonomously, according to the proposed scenarios and briefing instructions.

  • Compliant, well-maintained equipment known by users.
  • Manage friction, angles, anchors and loads.
  • Each team is responsible for its own equipment in the field.
04

Victims

Particular attention is paid to victims, often unfamiliar with exposure to height. Their comfort and safety are integral to the event.

  • Clear communication with the victim before and during the manoeuvre.
  • Respect their limits, instructions and feelings.
  • Realistic, calm and safe care.
05

Events

Workshops put teams in situations close to reality. The goal is to analyse quickly, choose tactics and adapt knowledge to the environment.

  • Assess the environment before committing.
  • Tactical choices are the team’s responsibility.
  • Respect the time, scenario and workshop limits.
06

Ranking and spirit

The ranking rewards technique, safety, analysis, efficiency and overall attitude. Rope’n Rescue Belgium remains above all a shared moment around a common passion.

  • Fair play is expected between all teams.
  • Respect the organisation's decisions.
  • Penalties may apply if instructions are not followed.

What matters in the field

The key strengths remain the same: rapid analysis, good equipment knowledge, rope autonomy, strong concentration, a reliable mindset and suitable physical condition.

01 analyse before acting
02 secure every choice
03 keep team spirit
